   Thought for the Month:

A clear conscience is usually a sign of the bad memory.

    January came in roaring like a lion.  We had the longest cold snap I can ever remember.  I do remember colder nights but not as many cold nights in a row as we had this year. We had close to ten straight nights with temperatures dropping into the 30's.  It really ended  our grass grazing and made us start feeding haylage.  It also took it's toll on the orange trees. Fortunately, we had already picked the fruit but it did hurt the trees some.

    After the first week or so of January, the rest of the month has been pretty mild.  I just hope February stays mild.  As you can tell, I am not a winter person.  I don't like cold weather.  I can never get warm if it is cold.  I also like to see the grass growing and the cows grazing.

    Work on the ranch is busy this month feeding haylage and supplement feeds. 

    This month we also have our local livestock show and fair.  That same week is our Silver Spurs Rodeo.  This is always a fun time because we get to see folks we don't see all year.

    Interest in our Brahman cattle remains strong. We have had several folds come visit the ranch and look at our Brahmans.  If any of you are in need of some good Brahman heifers or bulls, give us a call and come by!

   So until next month:  Don't spit in the wind, and don't squat with yer spurs on.
